  1. Confirm this is a non-production table that does not require continuous point-in-time recovery.
  2. Open DynamoDB → Tables → select this table → Backups tab.
  3. Point-in-time recovery → Edit → Disable (online; no downtime, no table lock). This reclaims the PITR backup-storage charge in full.
  4. Rely on on-demand backups instead for occasional recovery points. They cost nothing to store until deleted.
  5. Verify the Backups tab shows PITR 'Disabled' and confirm the backup-storage charge drops the following day in Cost Explorer.
