  1. S3 → bucket the resource → Properties → Bucket Versioning. Confirm enabled and verify whether you actually need versioning (compliance / DR).
  2. Management → Lifecycle rules → Create rule → scope all objects → Lifecycle actions → "Permanently delete noncurrent versions of objects" after 30 days.
  3. Add "Delete expired object delete markers" in the same rule.
  4. Add "Abort incomplete multipart uploads" after 7 days.
  5. Save. S3 Storage Lens will show the noncurrent-version footprint shrinking over the next cycle.
