01

Detect

ZopNight checks this automatically across Google Cloud, with read-only access to the account.

02

Explain

Every finding says exactly what to change: Recreate the GKE cluster as VPC-native.

03

Fix

The finding opens with the fix already written out, step by step, so it is one ticket, not an investigation.

Applies to
GKE Clusters on Google Cloud
The fix, by hand
  1. VPC-native mode cannot be flipped on an existing routes-based cluster. Plan a recreate.
  2. Create the replacement: gcloud container clusters create ‹new› --enable-ip-alias --cluster-secondary-range-name=‹pods-range› --services-secondary-range-name=‹svcs-range› --location=‹loc›.
  3. Pre-provision the secondary ranges on the subnet (gcloud compute networks subnets update ‹subnet› --add-secondary-ranges=‹pods›=10.4.0.0/14,‹svcs›=10.0.32.0/20).
  4. Migrate workloads via Backup for GKE or a blue/green namespace switch.
  5. Verify Pod IPs are now from the alias range (kubectl get pods -o wide) and route table no longer has per-node routes.
  6. Delete the old routes-based cluster once traffic is cut over.

These are the steps the finding carries in the product.
