The fix, by hand
  1. CloudWatch → Container Insights → service the resource → CPUUtilization (p95 over 14 days).
  2. ECS → Task Definitions → select → Create new revision → reduce CPU units / Memory to the next supported Fargate (or EC2 ECS) pair that covers p95 + 30% headroom.
  3. ECS → Services → the resource → Update service → point at the new revision → enable deployment circuit breaker.
  4. Watch the rolling deployment in Container Insights. Roll back to the previous revision if OOMKilled events appear.
  5. Configure Application Auto Scaling target tracking (e.g. CPU = 60%) so spikes scale tasks rather than over-provisioning the floor.
