- Open Portal → Recovery Services vault → the resource → Properties → Security Settings → Soft Delete.
- Confirm your accidental-delete recovery requirement (typical: 14 days). Above that, vault storage cost grows.
- Set the window to the minimum that meets your requirement. 14 days is the Azure-recommended floor.
- Save. New deletes follow the new window; existing soft-deleted items keep their original retention.
