Approve recommendations before they are applied.
Recommendation approvals, plus request tracing for ZopDay VM services
Admins can now set up approval workflows, so recommendations covered by a policy are reviewed and approved before anyone applies them. ZopDay can also trace the requests your VM services handle, and the Recommendations Overview now shows where your open savings are.
What's in this release
- New ZopNight: admins can set up approval workflows in Policies → Recommendation Approvals, choosing what each policy covers, who can approve, how many approvals are needed and the deadline. Approvers then approve, reject or ask for changes in Activity → Approvals. An email goes out at each step, updates can also go to Slack, Microsoft Teams or Google Chat, and every step is recorded in the audit log
- New ZopDay: follow each request through a VM service, spot slow endpoints and open a single request's timeline. Connect Grafana Tempo, Jaeger or Zipkin in Settings → Integrations → Observability, attach it to a space, then turn on tracing per service in Observability → Requests and redeploy. Your app must send traces for its requests to show up
- Improved ZopCloud: people who arrive from our ZopCloud campaign now get a three-step guide to their first live app: pick the code, review it and watch it go live. Those with no code yet can deploy one of two ready-made open-source apps, and Finish later lets them pick up where they left off
- Improved ZopNight: a new insights section on the Recommendations Overview shows open savings by category, resource type, cloud, account or severity, how long they have been waiting, and how much has been confirmed. Selecting a row filters the whole page to it
