Idle Azure MySQL Flexible Server
A flexible server bills for its compute tier continuously while it is running, whether or not any connection is open.
Free to start. No card. The playground just needs your work email.
Azure
Found, explained, handed over.
Findings with a dollar figure attached, idle, oversized, orphaned, unscheduled and undiscounted spend.
Detect
ZopNight checks this automatically across Azure, with read-only access to the account.
Explain
Every finding says exactly what to change: Schedule the idle MySQL flexible server off-hours. Where the saving can be proven it is priced; where it cannot, the finding says so.
Fix
The finding opens with the fix already written out, step by step, so it is one ticket, not an investigation.

- The fix, by hand
- Open Portal → Azure Database for MySQL flexible servers → the resource → Metrics, confirm flat zero on Active Connections for 14 days.
- Click Stop. Note the 7-day auto-restart window. Repeat Stop weekly if the server should stay paused.
- If permanently unneeded, take a final backup via Export, then Delete.
- Verify no application config still references this server's connection string.
These are the steps the finding carries in the product.
