- Confirm the resource is non-production or interruption-tolerant.
- Spot priority cannot be flipped in place. Recreate the VM.
- Snapshot disks and export the ARM template.
- Create a replacement VM with Azure Spot instance = Yes, Eviction policy = Deallocate, Max price = -1.
- Reattach disks (or restore from snapshot), validate, then delete the on-demand original.
- For fleets, prefer a VMSS with a Spot priority mix instead of standalone Spot VMs.
