- VM → Configuration → Licensing.
- Set Azure Hybrid Benefit for Windows Server = Yes (also applies the SQL Server toggle separately if applicable).
- Save. The change is online; no reboot required.
- For SQL Server VMs, repeat the toggle for SQL Server licensing.
- Confirm in Cost Management that the per-hour rate drops on the next billing day; track license assignments centrally so you don't over-commit Software Assurance entitlements.
