Cloud Toggle vs ZopNight: Simple VM Timers or a Cost Platform

Cloud Toggle does one job: switching servers off on a timetable, for a fixed monthly fee. Here is what its site says it covers, and where ZopNight goes further.

What Cloud Toggle offers

Cloud Toggle describes itself as “an easy, accessible way to power off idle cloud resources” (cloudtoggle.com). Its homepage shows two logos under “CLOUD TOGGLE works with”: Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services. We found no mention of Google Cloud.

The feature list on the homepage and the features page is short:

  • Daily and weekly schedules. “Set up daily and weekly schedules with precision timing”.
  • Overrides. You can “override a schedule in seconds when necessary”.
  • Scoped access. You create users and role-based teams, so people can act on servers “without letting people into the entire account”.

The homepage publishes three plans, each capped by servers, teams, users and cloud connections:

Plan priceServersTeamsUsersCloud connections
$49 a month, with a 30-day free trial15151
$99 a month505252
$249 a month200101005

Above 200 servers, the site says to contact them for custom pricing. The site talks about “servers” and “cloud VMs”. We did not find a list of other resource types, such as databases or Kubernetes clusters, so we make no claim either way. The prices above are from the Cloud Toggle homepage, checked on 25 September 2026.

How the two products differ in scope

Cloud Toggle is a timer for virtual machines with a friendly permission model. For a small team that wants to stop a few dozen dev servers overnight without handing out console access, that is a complete answer, and the price is known before you sign up.

ZopNight treats scheduling as one part of running cloud cost. It connects to AWS, GCP and Azure accounts, discovers resources through each provider’s inventory service, and prices them. Once billing sync is set up, reports use the billed figures from each cloud. On top of that inventory it adds recommendations (idle, rightsizing, schedule, orphan, commitment and others), a remediation wizard, team and tag showback, budgets and anomaly detection.

The scheduler itself reaches past VMs. It can start and stop RDS instances, EKS, GKE and AKS clusters, Cloud SQL, Azure MySQL and PostgreSQL flexible servers, ECS services, Databricks clusters and SQL warehouses, and individual Kubernetes namespaces. See RDS scheduling and namespace scheduling.

Choose Cloud Toggle if…

  • You only need AWS or Azure virtual machines switched off on a timetable.
  • You have fewer than 200 servers and want a fixed, published monthly price.
  • The main thing you want is to let non-engineers press start or stop without giving them cloud console access.

Choose ZopNight if…

  • You also run on GCP, or you need to schedule databases, Kubernetes clusters or single namespaces, not just VMs.
  • You want to know what the schedule saved in billed dollars, and what else is wasting money. Schedule recommendations are built from the latest 21 days of metrics and priced on the running hours the schedule would remove.
  • You want resources in a group to start in tiers (storage, then databases, then compute, then apps) with 30 seconds between tiers and a delay per resource.
  • You want every start and stop recorded with what triggered it: a schedule, a named user or an override. See the audit trail.

Does Cloud Toggle support Google Cloud?

Its homepage, checked on 25 September 2026, shows only Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services under 'CLOUD TOGGLE works with'. We found no mention of Google Cloud.

How much does Cloud Toggle cost?

Its homepage lists $49 a month (with a 30-day free trial) for up to 15 servers, $99 a month for up to 50 servers and $249 a month for up to 200 servers, with custom pricing above that.

Can I try ZopNight without letting it change anything?

Yes. Connect an account as read-only and ZopNight discovers resources, reads billing and raises recommendations, but it will not start, stop or remediate anything. Scheduled execution needs a read and write connection.
