Z-score method

A statistical anomaly detection method measuring how many standard deviations a cost value sits from the mean (z = (X - mean) / stddev), with severity tiers at z of 2 (warning), 3 (critical), and 4 (emergency), effective in volatile workloads where percent deviation fails.
