Set a budget on a cloud account, a resource, a resource group or an AI provider. Spend is read live every time, so the number on the page and the alert in Slack are always the same number.

- 01. Pick what to cap — A cloud account, a single resource, a resource group, or a connected AI provider such as Bedrock. Budgets roll up on each team's page.
- 02. Set the threshold — Choose the limit and the point where you want a warning. Every budget carries its own threshold rather than one rule for the whole org.
- 03. Watch it live — Month-to-date spend is read fresh every time you look. Nothing is copied into a column that could fall out of step.
- 04. Get told in time — Crossing the threshold turns the budget yellow and sends a warning. Going over turns it red and sends another, to Slack, Google Chat, Microsoft Teams or a webhook.

## One source, so nothing contradicts.

The page and the alert read the same number.

- Where spend comes from: The budgets page and the budget alerts read the same live source. The page cannot show green while an alert says you are over.
- When spend cannot be read: The budget shows Unavailable, never $0 and on track, and it is left out of the totals rather than counted as healthy.
- Status: Green on track, yellow at threshold, red over budget. Month to date.
- Access: Viewing budgets is one permission. Creating and changing them follows the same role matrix as everything else.
